As the latest addition to East London’s entertainment scene, Lumiere brings a fresh and modern approach to film and event cinema-going.

We are proud to say that Lumiere is one of the few cinemas in the UK that will celebrate the past as much as the present, the independent film sector as much as the mainstream.

Lumiere Romford was created and is run by the Romford Film Trust, a non-for-profit charity formed of passionate film and industry experts who want to create a cultural venue for the whole local community to use, be part of, and be proud of. Members of the Romford Film Trust have successfully hosted the Romford Film Festival, Romford Horror Film Festival, East London LGBTQ+ Film Festival, Havering Changing film screenings, and numerous other events over the past ten years.

Following a hugely successful Crowdfunder campaign backed by incredibly generous local and global supporters alike, Lumiere Romford is a community-saved cinema with well over a thousand Members already.

The Lumiere is a unique, community co-operative that will be under continual rebirth until 2028 - with new screens and tech, continually updated fixtures and decoration, plus new environments and safe spaces for film fans and community groups to gather. But Lumiere is more than just a cinema. Not only will we be championing film, we also have plans for regular live music, comedy, theatre, private screen hire, and rentable studio and gallery exhibition space for local artists.
